THE CHALLENGE
Macquarie University had undergone a curriculum transformation for commencing students.
Existing students were re-parented to updated courses and provided with ‘MyStudyPlan2020’, a personalised listing of enrolled, completed and available units under the revised structure.
This individualised view of students’ study plans was well received, however Macquarie had implemented the solution under time & resource constraints.
The university wanted to automate the production of personalised study plans for all coursework students, enabling these documents to be created on student request.

Additionally, Macquarie wanted to allow the study plan to change as course structures changed.
HOW THE WORK WAS CARRIED OUT
ESAM Consulting’s solution architects and consultants built an individualised response to Macquarie’s needs, utilising python code and SQL scripts to generate a final PDF for the requesting student.
All data for the desired study plan was sourced from the Academic Management Information System (AMIS) student portal, providing integration capabilities from ESAM’s built solution.
Macquarie University’s study plan automation was completed within 8 working weeks. Whilst all work was completed externally, Macquarie were updated on a regular basis, via scheduled video conferences with ESAM Consultants.
ESAM provided resources throughout all stages of the study plan automation project, from customer engagement, to post go-live support.
